We recently had the opportunity to take my wife’s grandfather to the Maine Military Museum and Learning Center (http://www.mainemilitarymuseum.org/) in South Portland, ME. He, like my grandfather, is also a veteran of WWII. He was in the Navy fighting in the Pacific theater and worked with the lighter-than-airships.
Roland Patry had heard about the museum, but really didn’t know what to expect. What he found there blew him away. Aside from the amazing collection of military exhibits going back to the Civil War, the knowledge and information provided by the founder and curator, Lee Humiston is incredible. Every piece in the museum has a story to tell, and Lee knows the stories. I encourage anyone who can get to the museum to do so - it is an experience not to be missed.
Below you can experience an interactive “photosynth” from our visit. It is not as thorough as I would like to have made it, but it will give you a sense of what is there.
