PeeWee Friendship Tournament

The Gardiner PeeWees competed in the Bangor Friendship tournament this year. As luck would have it, they drew two tough teams in the round robin portion of the tourney, and finished with a record of 1-1-1.  They played well though and it was a solid end to the season.

Alex skated out for this tournament instead of playing goalie. He had a tremendous weekend and scored 4 goals in 3 games, including a penalty shot goal!  It is great to see these players grow and develop throughout the years. Alex really shined this past weekend.  Here are the goals:

Goal # 1 against Bangor White:

Goal #2 against Bangor White (wasn’t sure it actually went in until the face off at center ice!)

Alex scores a really nice goal against a tough Houlton team. They lost this game 4-2, but might have given them a bit more than they could handle if they had played this game first. They were pretty tired through this one.

Alex’s penalty shot goal against the Gorham Huskies. I thought he shot it a bit early, but his placement was perfect and the goalie really didn’t have a chance.  They skated to a 2-2 tie in this game, but it wasn’t enough in the points standings to advance to the semi-finals:
